LFCU COMMUNITY STARS

At LFCU, we are active in the communities we serve. From supporting local charities with donations, volunteer activities and fundraisers, to reaching out to youth and adults to provide free educational seminars, LFCU contributes to the community in many ways.

Developed by LFCU employees, LFCU Community Stars Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation to provide support to local charities selected by LFCU employees through volunteerism and financial donations. LFCU employees are able to volunteer during their normal work hours and can make contributions to the chosen charities through LFCU Community Stars' Charitable Contribution Program via payroll deduction. Every year, LFCU Community Stars selects charities to support.

LFCU also offers a donations-matching program for employees who make contributions through Stars' Charitable Contribution Program.

LFCU continues to support these local charities through volunteer efforts: Burbank Temporary Aid Center, Penny Lane, Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center and For The Troops.

The foundation has raised more than $100,000 in the last two years with support from LFCU, employees and members.

In the past, LFCU and its employees delivered monetary contributions to local organizations, including weSPARK Cancer Support Center, American Cancer Society, Boys and Girls Club of Burbank, Guide Dogs of America, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Meals on Wheels and Special Olympics.

Partner to Paint
In 2009, Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU) employees traded in pens for paintbrushes to give the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and the Greater East Valley a facelift. About 30 employee volunteers spent the day giving the facility a new exterior coat of paint with Partner to Paint, LFCU's annual community project.

LFCU continued its Volunteer Time Off Program with Partner to Paint, allowing employees to receive company paid time off to volunteer in the community.

City Manager Mike Flad and Ron Davis, General Manager of Burbank Water and Power, helped in the selection of the Boys & Girls Club. Davis is also a board member of this Boys & Girls Club chapter.

With the help of the City, the charity organization's staff, and local businesses, this event is a true community effort.

Burbank business owner Tim Tilton of T&T Improvements Painting Company donated his time to assist with the project. Dunn Edwards Paints donated 70 gallons of paint to complete the job. The Corner Bakery in Burbank donated lunch for all employee volunteers. And, Budget Rent-A-Car donated transportation services for the event.

In March 2008, more than 40 LFCU employees volunteered their time to paint four portable classrooms at Bret Harte Elementary School in Burbank.

Burbank Unified School District employees helped select the location for the annual community project, which is less than one mile from the credit union’s headquarters.

In 2007, LFCU employee volunteers painted longtime member Sally Ecklund's home in North Hollywood. Mrs. Ecklund has lived in her current residence since 1959. Mrs. Ecklund's late husband worked for Lockheed in the 1960s and 70s.

In 2006, LFCU employee volunteers painted the home of long time members, Frank and Betty Ronge. Mr. Ronge is a World War II veteran who retired from Lockheed after 38 years of service.

LFCU's Partner-to-Paint program is designed to provide assistance to the community by painting a structure in need of an exterior coat of paint, in an area LFCU serves. LFCU offers volunteer time off  to employees who donate their time to complete this community service. (A selection process is determined by LFCU.)
