Members Reap Good Fortune

Lockheed Federal Credit Union Celebrates 70 Years of Success with Promotion

Burbank, Calif. (July 26, 2007) – If you’re looking for good fortune, you’ll find it at Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU). LFCU, one of the largest credit unions in the nation, announced today its Good Fortune promotion. The member-appreciation, fortune-cookie giveaway event is created in honor of LFCU’s 70th anniversary.

During the month of August, members who visit an LFCU branch to perform a transaction will receive a fortune cookie and a friendly, “Thanks for your business; we’re fortunate to have you!” from their teller. The cookies contain different messages of appreciation, including one that states, “You’re a Winner!” Members may redeem their winning message for an embroidered baseball hat.

“We are excited to celebrate our 70th anniversary in a way that shows our members how much we value their business,” said Andrea Carpenter, Senior Vice President of Marketing at LFCU. “Our many years of good fortune as a credit union are directly related to the support of our loyal members. They are the reason we open our doors every day.”

In 1937, Lockheed Federal Credit Union first opened its doors in Burbank. It was originally chartered by employees from Lockheed Aerospace Corporation (now Lockheed Martin Aerospace Corporation) to serve employees who had trouble getting loans because of their modest salaries. Since, it has grown and evolved. However, one thing has remained constant: LFCU’s commitment to provide excellent service to its members, long before this idea became popular with banks.

Today, LFCU is one of the nation’s largest and strongest credit unions with more than 100,000 members, and $2.5 billion in assets. LFCU membership is open to Southern California residents of more than 200 sponsor companies.

A progressive, full-service financial institution, LFCU is dedicated to excellence in member service. LFCU provides quality service as a not-for-profit financial cooperative, owned and democratically controlled by its membership. LFCU is guided by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Each member gets one vote for the Board of Directors, regardless of the amount on deposit in the credit union.

LFCU is the largest financial institution headquartered in the San Fernando Valley and has recently earned a perfect score for financial strength from independent rating company, IDC Financial Publishing.

LFCU serves the Antelope, Conejo, Santa Clarita, San Fernando, and San Gabriel valleys, as well as eastern Ventura County. LFCU is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration.
