BURBANK, CALIFORNIA, May 9, 2005 — Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU) announced today two winners of their “Student of the Month” program for the month of April. West Ranch High School freshman Paige Miller and Placerita Junior High eighth grader Moriah Tenney were chosen by their principals for their outstanding achievement in academics and citizenship.
Paige Miller is a two-year member of ASB and has been an honor student for two years as well. Paige’s student involvement ranges from participating on the student diversity club to the drama club. She’s helped raise money for local flood victims, organized toy drives for needy Santa Clarita children and more. Overall, Paige is an outstanding citizen and student. Moraih Tenney also shows exemplary accomplishments in academics and leadership. Moriah maintains a 3.83 GPA, holds star roles in school plays, is active in student body government, and works as a peer conflict mediator. Moriah was recently awarded the "Outstanding Citizenship Award" for her class.
LFCU's "Student of the Month" program, newly launched within the William S. Hart School District, recognizes two students each month throughout the academic year from each high school and junior high. Winning high school students receive a cash award of $250 and junior high students receive a $250 savings bond. The student’s school receives $250 cash. LFCU has a similar program within the district recognizing outstanding athletes during the football, basketball and baseball seasons.
