NASHUA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, May 9, 2005 — Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU) announced today that William M. Shepard, a longtime resident of the Lakes Region in New Hampshire, has retired from the Lockheed Federal Credit Union Board of Directors after 16 years of service. Mr. Shepard has served as chairman of the board as well as on the operations, executive, and long-range planning committees during his tenure.
Bill is a Boston University graduate who enjoyed a 40-year career with Sanders (now a BAE Systems company). While employed at Sanders, Bill worked as a program manager in the Surveillance Systems Division, manager of Middle East marketing, and director of the Sanders Employees Federal Credit Union. Bill was appointed to the Lockheed Federal Credit Union Board of Directors when Lockheed and Sanders Credit Unions merged in 1989.
Since joining LFCU's board 16 years ago, Bill helped evolve Lockheed into one of the strongest credit unions in the nation. With expert management, LFCU now leads the industry in financial performance and currently holds over $2 billion in assets.
"I've truly enjoyed my career and am honored to have worked side-by-side with talented professionals who cared about the future of their organizations," Bill said. "The current success of both Sanders and Lockheed Federal Credit Union speaks to the strong foundation earlier generations worked so hard to create."
Since retiring from Lockheed Federal Credit Union’s board, Shepard and his wife Marilyn are enjoying spending more time with their grandchildren in New York and relaxing in their new home in Maui.
